We are delighted to welcome you to Oasis Academy Wattville. Oasis Academy Wattville is proud to be a part of the Oasis Community Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust with 55 academies across the UK. By joining the Oasis family, we are able to provide our pupils with a rich network of support, resources, and opportunities to ensure their success. This partnership enhances the values and ethos we already champion, creating a collaborative environment where all of our academies work together to make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
Nestled in the vibrant community of Handsworth, Birmingham, Oasis Academy Watville, is a nurturing and inclusive academy serving children aged 3-11. Oasis Academy Watville is steeped in history, proudly carrying forward a legacy that dates back to its founding in 1895. As custodians of this remarkable heritage, we honour our school’s longstanding tradition of serving the community with excellence and care. A testament to this rich history is the World War Memorial Plaque housed within our grounds, commemorating the brave local soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Great War.
Adding to this legacy, the school once served as a refuge for children evacuated during World War II, providing a haven of learning and stability in turbulent times. Additionally, the original school building, with its Victorian architecture, continues to stand as a symbol of the enduring commitment to education and community service that defines Oasis Academy Wattville's spirit.
At Oasis Academy Wattville, we are not just focused on academic success, but also on nurturing the personal growth and well-being of every child. We are a warm, happy, and vibrant academy where children come first. It is a place where they can grow in confidence, curiosity, and compassion while achieving their best academically. As part of a diverse community, we value the strong partnerships we build with families, which are key to the success of our pupils.
Our ethos is deeply rooted in our story and expresses the character that drives everything we do. At Oasis Academy Wattville, we believe in inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance. These values are at the heart of our academy culture, shaping how we interact with one another, solve problems, and grow as individuals. We are committed to creating an inclusive and respectful environment where all children can flourish.
As part of Oasis Community Learning, our ethos is inspired by Christianity, though we respect and celebrate the diverse beliefs of our staff, pupils, and families. We aim to foster an environment where spiritual and cultural diversity is valued, allowing each child to thrive and develop in a space where they feel safe and respected.
To further support personal growth, we embrace the Oasis 9 Habits, a unique approach to character development that promotes values such as compassion, patience, humility, joy, honesty, hope, consideration, forgiveness, and self-control. These habits are embedded in our everyday practice, guiding both pupils and staff on a journey of continuous self-improvement.
We believe that by living out the Oasis 9 Habits, our pupils and staff become the best version of themselves, positively influencing our local, national, and global communities. This process of character development is essential to the success of every child, and it is a key part of our commitment to providing a nurturing, supportive learning environment.
Being part of Oasis Community Learning means that we have access to a wealth of shared expertise, resources, and support across a network of academies. We are not just an academy; we are part of a vibrant and growing community that works together to make a difference. The ethos and values of Oasis Community Learning empower us to provide the best possible education and development opportunities for our pupils, preparing them to contribute to a better world.
